The Zing Your Beauty Routine Needs

The zing your beauty routine needs

It’s difficult these days not to read about the latest great beauty revelation. What celebrity is cleansing/moisturising/buffing/scrubbing with what, the new superfood or super beauty ingredient that you need to include or the new beauty brand on the block. It can get a little daunting, navigating your way through the beauty industry, but don’t fret; it can all be done in one simple place.

The Blue Lemon is a company specialising in the purest organic and vegan handmade beauty products by husband and wife team Jenny and Jorg. From its beginnings of handmade soaps, the ideas gradually spiralled from gifts to friends and crafts stalls into a real business idea. ‘We soon realized there was a big market for natural skincare and our range grew organically, from customer’s requests and enquiries.’ Jenny tells us, as she explains how a hobby took on a life of its own and became the success it is today.

As the world becomes more and more health conscious, it’s no longer just about what we put into our bodies, but onto them as well. One concern in the industry today is the purity of many of the products available, and that’s why we’re always looking for an organic skincare line, devoid of any alcohol or preservatives that ruin the clean aspect of products.

Having stumbled upon The Blue Lemon, we are now happy to say that we are using the right products. ‘We make the products without adding water, meaning we do not need to use preservatives or alcohol. We found the results were fantastic, with super concentrated creams and balms which absorb completely with no greasy residue.’ Jenny explains and fills us in on the brands philosophy which definitely rings true:

If you wouldn’t want to eat it, why would you put it on your skin?

It seems that more people should be concerned with the ingredients in their skincare these days; when it comes to beauty rituals it’s much more reassuring to know where the things we put in to our system have come from. Jenny advises that applying the right ingredients and living a healthy lifestyle is key to flawless skin. We couldn’t wait to sit down with the expert to get insider knowledge in what we need to think about to kicking off the new season with the right skin-care ritual.

A regular runner, Jenny drinks lots of water and tries to get as much fresh air as possible; she doesn’t smoke and only has the occasional drink. She admits to only using products from The Blue Lemon line (if she didn’t, Neal’s Yard would be her go-to), starting the day with their Tea Tree face wash. This is followed by toning with Chamomile floral water and moisturising with pure Unrefined Shea Butter. She wears little make up but does apply Bare Minerals mascara every day so for standout lashes.

The Tea Tree facial wash is by far Jenny’s number one product in the skin care range; ‘It’s a 3 in 1 face wash, it cleanses, tones and is gentle enough to use twice a day.  The tea tree oil tackles my T-Zone and my skin is noticeably softer and more radiant.’ The Blue Lemon prides itself on providing nourishment in its products to make your skin as healthy and radiant as possible. Products including Pure Shea Butter, Night Time Serum, Peppermint Foot Balm and Geranium & Lavender Body Butter are just some of Jenny’s essentials from the range.

The main ingredient in most of the products is Shea Butter, bought at a fair trade price from one co-operative in Ghana, hand produced by women in the village. ‘We research other beneficial oils and find the perfect blend for skin absorption, texture and stability.’ and as such, the products are born, each with their own individual signature ingredients.

For Jenny, it’s important for any woman to get to know her skin type and how her lifestyle affects it, be it by diet or fitness. ‘Most of our products are designed to be rebalancing and regulating and so are suitable for most skin types.’ One of the best things we’ve ever learned, and Jenny confirms for us, is to give everything a 30 day trial on your skin. ‘Don’t expect miracles or quick fixes, just look forward to your skin’s appearance being the best it possibly can.

Wise words from one half of a dynamic skin care dream team. The Blue Lemon philosophy is something that has definitely changed the way we view our skincare. With Jenny describing the brand as ‘Feel the difference’, it’s evident that The Blue Lemon is not a run of the mill skincare brand, but an incredibly pure and fresh range bursting with goodness. There’s no excuse to hide from skincare now with products like these!
